So picture this, it was Mother’s day 2011, and I was organized! Not surprised? Well then you don’t know me well enough! You see, being organized is as alien to my nature as repeating dresses more than twice, or eating a carb-heavy lunch….but I digress.

So I got into my loving daughter mode and planned a surprise fabulous lunch for my super-cool Mom, I shopped, I chopped and hey! I even cooked! All her favourite dishes, and that means it had to be Italian. So Pasta Primavera(for her, not me!), tossed Roquette greens with balsamic and extra virgin o.o., Chicken Cacciatore and a heavenly Tiramisu to round it off (ok, confessing that this one was from that Italian bistro), even a lovely cool bot of Chianti… I was on fire!

Neatened up my pocket apartment, threw on my new Mango confection-of-a-dress as a nod to the occasion, and hopped into my buggy to pick the lucky lady up…reached her place and well, the surprise was on me! She wasn’t home, and she always always has her bridge four on Saturdays…

A quick call to her told me all…not having heard from me, the fine woman and her three gal-pals had treated themselves to a sister act all-day spa date, head to toe, the works! Turns out they figured that the day was worth celebrating in style, and so right they were! Ended up joining them and having a rollicking time with her feisty fifties group, really energizing. This year as a wise move, I’ve invited her a week in advance, and am taking her out!

Aren’t Moms just the best? This one’s for them and for their spirit that keeps us going, happy Mother’s day!
